As the football world starts to focus their attention to the final games of the season, Manchester United fans have completely moved on and are now in transfer mode. With new rumors coming out everyday about who will join the club, you can only help but get excited. I have picked out 5 transfer targets that I believe, could change the club for the better.
1. Matthijs de Ligt – Center back
The first target, and I believe the best target is the 19 year old captain of Ajax. Recent rumors have linked de Ligt with a move to Old Trafford, while some leave it up to playing the game to get a larger contract from potential suitors Barcelona, or if Edwin & Daley have convinced the Dutch star to join their former club, this would be a great move for the club.
This season saw de Ligt play nearly 3000 minutes as a starter for Ajax, and nearly another 1000 minutes while making a run to the Champions league semi-final.
2. Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Right full back
Wan- Bissaka is a 21 year old full back, from Crystal Palace. Many believe that his quality of play is up there with the best right backs in the Premier League, while there is an argument for it, he certainly does bring quality to the right back position in Ole’s defense.
A dribble completion percentage of around 60% is higher than any of those currently able to play the position at Manchester United. Only beaten by opponents 10 times in 35 appearances, 129 tackles, 84 interceptions, and 206 ball recoveries also proves that this young full back is an absolute beast in defense.
3. Jadon Sancho – Right wing
Jadon Sancho is nearly guaranteed to play Bundesliga football next season with Borussia Dortmund, but this would definitely be a transfer that would change the look of the attack. A young English player at only 19 years of age, this would really fit the ideology of Manchester United.
Sancho this season played a total of 2931 minutes in the league, assisting 14 goals and netting 12 himself, a total of 26 goal contributions in 34 appearances, 13 more than Jesse Lingard’s best season at Manchester United.
4. Tanguy Ndombele – Midfielder
Ndombele would be a great addition to the United midfield, and a very good replacement for the departing Ander Herrera. Ndombele made 22 appearances as a traditional midfielder this season with French team Lyon, and another 16 as a defensive midfielder, a potential replacement for Matic, who should be departing at the end of the upcoming season.
Ndombele this season created a total of 5 less chances than current United star Paul Pogba, while intercepting more balls, winning more fouls, committing less fouls, and having a higher overall performance score than Pogba registered this season.
5. Paulo Dybala – Striker/Attacking midfielder
The final, of the 5 targets is Argentine international, and current Juventus player, Paulo Dybala. The attacker has been at Juventus since 2015, making 127 appearances for the Old Lady, and scoring 57 goals in that time.
Dybala is by far the most high profile target on this list, and would cost the most to bring to the club, but that would be money very well spent. Dybala created 40 chances for Juve this season while playing 30 matches, while being able to get goals himself, Dybala would be key to the development of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial by providing lots of opportunities to further their goal tallies and grow as players.
