Today the Grind Session Championship bracket was revealed, with Spire Institute facing off against either Hillcrest prep North or Downey Christian in the first round. Spire is on the opposite side of the table as their rivals Prolific Prep and Bella Vista, who we highlighted as top competitors to Spire in our tournament preview. With this news, Spire will now have increased odds at taking the Grind Session championship.
Spire have much better chances at taking the tournament because the fact that their top rivals are on the other side, and can only face them in the finals. Spire institute will still have to play against teams like Downey Christian high school, The Rock, and Trinity International, to get the opportunity to play in the finals. Their are going to be some high school superstars who could be going up against Lamelo Ball in this tournament, including Zion Harmon, Terry Armstrong, Julian Newman, Nimari Burnett, and more.
Lamelo Ball:22 PPG, 10.4 APG, 9.4 RPG
Prolific Prep have the easiest road to the finals out of the three teams we expect to contend for the title, having no difference making match ups until the semi finals. Behind Nimari Burnett, Prolific Prep have become one of the best Grind Session teams in the country this season.
Nimari Burnett: 21.4 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 4.9 APG
Bella Vista will have a more difficult road to the finals because their second round match up will be against another top Grind Session team in either ASIPRE or West Oaks. However, Bella Vista have gotten a big boost in recent weeks with the addition of star Zion Harmon, who has become a co-star with Arizona commit Terry Armstrong. Together they have formed a back court to be feared, with their newly found star, they could catch fire all the way to a title.
Zion Harmon: 20.3 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 4.7 APG
With the bracket news now out, I can confidently say now that Spire Academy should be considered the favorite in this tournament. With 4 legitimate superstars and no one in their way, I cant see how they lose this.
