Spire Academy took a 102-83 win last night in Lamelo Ball’s return to action highlighted by an insane 22 point, 10 rebound, and 4 assist performance from Myron Gardner, one of Lamelo’s many co-stars. As we know Lamelo Ball has been out for the past couple of weeks with a broken finger, an injury he was originally playing through, but finally took a rest to let it heal. In Lamelo’s return, he did not disappoint, scoring 14 points and dishing out 12 assists, in a typically impressive display.
Lamelo had one particular moment that put the internet on fire in this game, he ran down in transition and bounced an alley-oop off the ground to himself, injuring himself in the process.
That didn’t stop Lamelo from continuing though, and hopefully won’t keep him out for any future games as well, especially with his iconic match-up with Anthony Edwards looming just a little over a week away.
Other than just one loss to Prolific Prep on the entire season, it seems that Spire really can’t be stopped, with their combination of star-power, and quick play, they are essentially the Golden State Warriors of high school basketball, they are nearly unbeatable. With just a little bit of time left in the season we will soon know where Lamelo will play next as well as the future of teammates Rocket Watts and Myron Gardner.
Overall, this was just another game for Spire, but with Lamelo Ball coming back and being ready to play once more, Spire are at their best.
