A scintillating weekend in the Premier League brings the year to a close. League leaders Liverpool trounced 5th place Arsenal to extend their lead at the top to 7 points.

After a shock 2-1 defeat to the surprise 2015-16 Premier League champions, Leicester City, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City returned to winning ways with a convincing 3-1 victory over Southhampton.

Third placed Tottenham Hotspurs fell victim to the vicious Wolves (Wolverhampton Wanderers) who came from behind to win 3-1 away from home.

Fourth placed Chelsea narrowly edged past Crystal Palace thanks to Ngolo Kante strike 6 minutes into the second half. After yet another loss at Anfield, fifth placed Arsenal trail 5 behind Chelsea as the top four begin to break away from the pack. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sorely missed his striking partner, Alexandre Lacazette, having arguably one of the worst games of his career. 6/13 of his passes came from kick-off.

Paul Pogba scored two goals as Manchester United legend and caretaker manage Ole Gunnar Solskjær continued his 100% start with a 4-1 win over Bourmouth. Manchester United look like a different side, as the absence of Jose Mourinho has apparently revitalized the team to it’s full potential.

At the other end of the table, Burnley beat West Ham 2-0 to begin their climb out of the relegation zone. Fulhum hammered more nails into Huddersfield Town’s coffin, as they continued their downward spiral, recording their sixth straight defeat, entering the new year with a measly 10 points gained from their 20 games played.
