Welcome to the Derrick Rose Game Analysis!

For the rest of the season, I will be recapping how Derrick Rose did in each game. As a big Derrick Rose fan, I have been extremely happy to see him play really well. This is for all of the D-Rose fans out there (and everyone else) that need a quick summary on how he played for the night. Let’s jump right in.

There will be 4 parts: the Introduction, his Stats for the game, Other Notable Timberwolves and the Conclusion.

Introduction:

Rose and the Minnesota Timberwolves (15-18) entered the game after beating the Thunder in a close game, despite both Teague and Rose not playing. The Timberwolves were able to pull away with a 114-112 win behind Wiggins’ 30 points against OKC, as they headed into Christmas with a 1-game win streak.

This was D-Rose’s first game back at the United Center since 2016, to which was greeted with loud cheers. In addition, former Bull Taj Gibson received a warm welcome as well. Rose put up an excellent performance as the Timberwolves led big early on, and didn’t look back.

Stats:

Game Stats: 24 points, 3 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 steals on 57.9% FG, 20.0% 3PT, 100.0% FT in 38 minutes

Updated 2018-19 Season Stats: 18.7 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 4.7 apg on 49/45/84, 29.7 mpg

Other Notable Timberwolves:

Karl-Anthony Towns – 20 points, 20 rebounds, 4 assists (8-13 FG)

Andrew Wiggins – 14 points (5-15 FG)

Taj Gibson – 16 points (6-9 FG)

Tyus Jones – 13 points, 5 assists (4-6 FG)

Conclusion

After missing the game against the Thunder, Rose bounced back with a performance that surely brought excitement to those that watched the game live. While he didn’t shoot well from beyond-the-arc, he was amazing from inside as he wowed the crowd with dazzling dribble moves and impossible shots. Playing in front of the Chicago crowd for the first time since 2016, Rose received MVP chants at the free throw line, and even cracked a smile before sinking it. Here’s what he had to say about it:

It was great man, overwhelming a little bit. I had to crack a smile.

Rose has faced both ups and downs during the course of his career. From nagging injuries to bad press from the media, he’s persevered and has kept going. Some fans have even left, but Rose takes note of this. Respect to D-Rose for being such a big inspiration for us all.

I remained myself. I stayed true to my family. There were a lot of people that jumped off the boat when I was going through things. I seen who they were, and I know what’s fake love and what’s real love.

Derrick Rose and the Timberwolves (16-18) will face off against the Trae Young and the Hawks (9-24) on Friday, which should be an exciting game between two teams with talented young cores. The Timberwolves now sit at 13th in the West, 0.5 games behind the Jazz and the Mavericks. They are 2 games from .500 after a horrible 4-game losing streak a few weeks ago, as they look to make a playoff push.
