1. Boston Celtics

Reasoning: With only one Most Valuable Player on their team the decision came down to the games everyone has been known for playing and their individual skill levels. After much deliberation we’ve decided Gordon Hayward and the Boston Celtics are the NBA’s best E-Sports team as Hayward having played multiple PC games including League of Legends as well as playing console games such as Fortnite we must give him the clear lead as the most diverse E-Sport athlete in the NBA. Kyrie Irving and Jason Tatum should be able to contribute in some manor as both have been known for playing NBA 2K, but to their skill level I can’t make a solid claim.

Most Valuable Player: Gordon Hayward

Role Player: Jayson Tatum, Kyrie Irving

Least Valuable Players: Al Horford, Marcus Smart, Terry Rozier

  1. Minnesota Timberwolves

Reasoning: Wiggins and Towns are both known for streaming and playing multiple E-Sport games including Fortnite, PUBG, and NBA 2K. Towns even had a video go viral in which he was playing with 76ers star Ben Simmons where he was playing the night before a game and Simmons responded “You don’t have to worry you play the Hawks tomorrow”. Towns is obviously playing video games throughout the NBA season and off-season, meaning he and Wiggins are likely pretty good from repetition alone.

Most Valuable Players: Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins

Role Player: Tyus Jones

Least Valuable Players: Derrick Rose, Luol Deng, Taj Gibson

  1. Phoenix Suns

Reasoning: NBA 2K league leading scorer Boo Painter told us in an interview “Kelly Oubre Jr. is probably the best NBA 2K player in the NBA”. That’s high praise coming from one of the very best professional 2K players. Add that to a young team with players like Booker, Ayton, and Bridges who likely have played a ton of video games growing up are strong candidates to be the best E-Sport team in the NBA.

Most Valuable Player: Kelly Oubre Jr:

Role Players: Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton, Mikal Bridges

Least Valuable Players: Jamal Crawford, Ryan Anderson

  1. Los Angeles Lakers

Reasoning: Josh Hart is one of the most active NBA players playing and talking about E-Sports on what seems like a daily basis. I wouldn’t be surprised if he travels with his console when the Lakers are on the road. Lance Stephenson is also surprisingly good at video games, while players like Kuzma and Ball have played a ton 2K throughout their lives. LeBron who likely gets beaten by Bronny in 2K and the other Lakers players who have kids are likely to not be as good at video games as they don’t have the time to play with both their schedule and families.

Most Valuable Players: Josh Hart, Lance Stephenson

Role Players: Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma

Least Valuable Players: Lebron James, Rajon Rondo, JaVale McGee

  1. Brooklyn Nets

Reasoning: Kenneth Faried won a celebrity Pro-Am Fortnite tournament, so he is obviously one of the most skilled NBA players at Fortnite and possibly multiple other games. Russell while we’ve heard rumors of him not being very good at NBA 2K or other video games he did join IBall Empire a NBA 2K pro clan. Other players such as Lavert and Jefferson are likely to be able to contribute in some fashion depending on the game.

Most Valuable Players: Kenneth Faried, D’Angelo Russell

Role Players: Caris Lavert, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson

Least Valuable Player: Jared Dudley, Demarre Carroll

  1. Detroit Pistons

Reasoning: Reggie Jackson and Andre Drummond both participated in the Fortnite Celebrity Pro-Am, and while they didn’t win both showed some skills on the sticks as they are likely to lead the Pistons to be one of the best E-Sport Franchises.

Most Valuable Players: Reggie Jackson, Andre Drummond

Role Players: Reggie Bullock, Stanley Johnson

Least Valuable Players: Jose Calderon, Blake Griffin

  1. Philadelphia 76ers

Reasoning: Embiid and Simmons both are active streamers and play video games often, however with Jimmy Butler now on their team I wonder how much they are going to be spending their free time playing video games. They do have two other young guys in Zhaire and Fultz who are likely good at video games given their age and time taken away from basketball due to injuries.

Most Valuable Players: Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons

Role Players: Markelle Fultz, Zhaire Smith

Least Valuable Players: Jimmy Butler, JJ Redick

  1. Washington Wizards

Reasoning: They were much higher on this list prior to trading Kelly Oubre Jr. and now they have dropped out of the Top 5 E-Sport teams to on their way out of the top 10. Howard and Porter both play video games but are unlikely to be able to carry the load for the Wizards, they take a small edge over the Kings because they may have more depth on their E-sport roster.

Most Valuable Players: Dwight Howard, Porter Jr.

Role Players: Bradly Beal, Thomas Bryant

Least Valuable Players: John Wall, Trevor Ariza, Jeff Green

  1. Sacramento Kings

Reasoning: Fox streams and is young enough to have been playing video games his entire life, likely making him pretty good at a lot of video games he’s going to pick up. However, I haven’t heard anything from their other young Roel Players like Bagley and Hield so he may be carrying a team by himself. Bagley seems to be more interested in rapping then helping his team become the best E-Sport Franchise.

Most Valuable Players: De’Aaron Fox

Role Players: Marvin Bagley III, Buddy Hield

Least Valuable Players: Zach Randolph, Iman Shumpert, Kosta Koufos

  1. Portland Trailblazers

Reasoning: CJ is likely to carry the team with some help from Lillard who is also known to play some video games but isn’t likely to carry their franchise past some of these more stacked franchises. Stauskas given his age and the way he idolized Lebron there is a good chance he grew up at least playing 2K meaning he should be able to contribute in some way.

Most Valuable Players: CJ McCollum, Damian Lillard

Role Players: Nik Stauskas

Least Valuable Players: Jusuf Nurkic, Evan Turner

  1. Oklahoma City Thunder

Reasoning: Paul George entered the celebrity Pro-Am  as well and while he didn’t win he showed he was better than other NBA players, along with Adams being a Fortnite enthusiast this team is likely to be pretty good at video games, if it wasn’t for the fact Westbrook wouldn’t contribute in anyway and the team probably doesn’t play as much as they used to as they want to compete for a title.

Most Valuable Players: Paul George, Steven Adams

Role Players: Jerami Grant, Nerlens Noel

Least Valuable Players: Russell Westbrook, Andre Robinson, Raymond Felton

  1. Utah Jazz

Reasoning: Thabo Sefolosha is a member of IBall Empire an NBA 2K clan and brand with several star 2K athletes, given the fact he’s part of their roster and plays with pro level players we will give him some recognition that he could have talent in NBA 2K or at least he plays with talented E-Sport athletes. Mitchell, Exum and Allen are all young enough that they most likely grew up playing multiple video games including NBA 2K.

Most Valuable Players: Thabo Sefolosha

Role Players: Donovan Mitchell, Grayson Allen, Dante Exum

Least Valuable Players: Kyle Korver, Ricky Rubio, Joe Ingles

  1. Orlando Magic

Reasoning: Terrence Ross is a solid Fortnite player but doesn’t have enough footage of him playing games for us to know his skill level, however we know he plays none the less. The rest of the Magic roster is also likely to have at least 3 other guys who play video games during their free time and could contribute the success of their franchise.

Most Valuable Players: Terrence Ross

Role Players: Aaron Gordon, Mohammad Bamba, Jonathan Isaac

Least Valuable Players: D.J. Augustin, Nikola Vucevic, Timofey Mozgov

  1. New Orleans Pelicans

Reasoning: Davis is known to play a little NBA 2K but isn’t anywhere near the E-Sport athlete that these other individuals are. Okafor and Payton may be able to produce but will likely be shut down by superior gamers.

Most Valuable Players: Anthony Davis

Role Players: Eflrid Payton, Jahil Okafor

Least Valuable Players: Nikola Mirotic, Solomon Hill, Jrue Holiday

  1. Chicago Bulls

Reasoning: Being on of the youngest teams in the NBA most of their team is likely to have played video games in their life, Holiday is most likely the best of the bunch probably having played as his brother and self in NBA 2K plenty. Towns has been on the record saying “LaVine loves video games but sucks at them”. So we will take that to heart and say he isn’t going to help other than with enthusiasm.

Most Valuable Players: Justin Holiday

Role Players: Jabari Parker, Cameron Payne, Wendell Carter Jr.

Least Valuable Players: Zach Lavine, Robin Lopez, Lauri Markkanen
