Lamelo Ball and Spire Academy took on a heated crowd against SVSM, but the game did not live up to the hype that was given, Spire Academy ended up taking this one by a score of 81-58. With Lamelo Ball only scoring 9 points against Lebron James’ alma mater it was Rocket Watts who stepped up for Spire academy, scoring 27 points in the win. Rocket was not the only Spire player to step up as 5 star recruit Isaiah Jackson had some big blocks in the game as well.
The crowd was enveloped in chants calling Lamelo Ball overrated throughout the game and that could have effected his game, in his first poor performance since returning to High School.
The fourth quarter was key tonight as Lamelo Ball heated up towards the end in a quarter that Spire outscored their opponent 33-16. Lamelo Ball was finally held in check at the High School level, but don’t expect that to last, there is a reason he was averaging a triple double in his last three games.
Another important note from this game is that Rocket Watts is becoming a star in his own right. This will always be Lamelo Ball’s team but the Michigan State recruit is looking more and more like a future NBA player.
For Spire they have their next game on Wednesday against Life Christian Academy where Spire will look to continue their win run and Lamelo will look to be back to his best.
