The biggest weakness and a glaring hole in the Lakers team in this early season was clear, it wasn’t Luke Walton’s rotations (even though they are still awful) and it wasn’t lack of three-point shooting. No in fact the biggest weakness the Lakers had is when JaVale McGee left the court they couldn’t play any resemblance of defense. Signing Tyson Chandler as their backup Center will be huge for the Lakers (even if he isn’t anywhere close to his former self) as they will be able to play the same style with two center’s who are near identical in their style of play and stature. Now with legit two seven footers clogging up the paint and being the benefactor of playing on a team with more play-makers than they can count, the Lakers will be poised to escape their early season troubles and really be a threat to the Warriors and Western Conference going forward. I know what some of you are thinking, Tyson Chandler isn’t that good he you’re over-blowing his signing. Well after 9 games the MVP of the Lakers isn’t Lebron James so far, it has been JaVale McGee who is having a career year, I don’t expect Chandler to get more than 15 minutes a game which I believe he will be able to excel at. The very least he’ll be an upgrade over having a 6’9 Center on the court no matter the praise Williams has received from teammates about his defensive IQ. Expect good production out of Tyson chandler in limited minutes, this isn’t Arizona where they have shooters and a need to play a Young big man as many minutes as possible. He will excel playing the role the Lakers expect of him, and this is his best shot at a title since helping beat LeBron in the 2011 finals (the worst performance of Lebron’s career). I expect Chandler to have an immediate impact on the Lakers rotations, i’d like to see Ingram, Kuzma, and Lonzo play heavy minutes more consistently as well.
